Seeds Canada members and stakeholders will meet virtually over four two-hour sessions on Friday, November 15, and Monday, November 18.
This engagement session focuses on reporting on key activities and hearing from members as Seeds Canada continues to follow our vision.

Opening Remarks: Brent Collins, Seeds Canada President will open the Semi-Annual Meeting with greetings and highlight key achievements and his priorities for the upcoming year. Brent will also introduce the Seeds Canada Award of Excellence.
Seeds Canada’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee will lead attendees through a D&I Moment.
Strategic Plan: Barry Senft, Seeds Canada CEO will report on the progress of the new strategic plan that will guide the Board and Seeds Canada staff to deliver on our key priorities for the next 3 years.
P&I Committee Rebrand: Consultant Duane Johnson and Barry Senft, Seeds Canada CEO will update members on the new P&I Committees and operating structure to ensure committees are better aligned with membership needs and wants.
GR Update: Lise Newton, Director of Communication and Government Relations will provide an overview of 2024 Lobby Days and Reception. As well as discuss how we can align ourselves with the government mandate should there be a change in government.
SRM Update: Dr. Lauren Comin, Director of Policy will update members on the SRM process and outline adjustments to our strategy.
Program and Client Services Update: Roy van Wyk, Director of Client and Intellectual Property Services will provide an update on programs and services with recent updates to programs such as the Variety Use Agreement Platform (VUA), Midge Tolerant Wheat (MTW), Farm Sustainability Assessment (FSA).
Barriers to Investment in Plant Breeding with Lori-Ann Kaminski, President Western Wheat Research Coalition
Canadian Plant Breeding and Genetics Award will be presented by Marc Zienkiewicz, Seed World Canada.

CFIA Update
Bearpit Session with President Brent Collins and the Seeds Canada staff leadership team. This is a unique opportunity for meeting participants to join breakout groups with their peers to discuss and formulate questions for Brent and the leadership team. This is your chance to ask those important questions you've wanted to ask!
International Update: Krista Thomas, CGC, will provide Seeds Canada members with an update on the progress being made towards the acceptance of genetically modified varieties by Canada's crop-buying countries.
Update for Seed Analysts: Speakers will outline ongoing projects for the Seeds Analyst Professional Development program, including engagement with CFIA SSTS lab on Canadian M&P, review of CE portal updates, and project to update Professional Analyst curriculum.
Looking ahead to 2025: Members of Seeds Canada’s Leadership Team will outline engagement opportunities for the year ahead. This will include Seeds Canada’s 2025 Annual Conference and Member renewal program
